Top 5 Tips for getting started on weight loss

1. Figure out your "Why"

The first step is to figure out why you want to lose weight or embark on this journey. Weight loss is hard. So it is extremely important to build a strong foundation for your journey. Most of the time people are "seasonal dieters". This means that they only want to lose weight for the Summer or special occasions. There is nothing wrong with these reasons but when your going on a personal weight loss journey you want to focus on having a healthy lifestyle. The best "why" is YOU! don't lose weight to look good only for an upcoming event, or because your life partner thinks you should. You should be embarking this journey because you want to be the best version of yourself.

2. Empty the Cabinets

After you have figured out your Why, the next step is to clear out all the junk food that is in your house. If you dispose of all types of foods that may sabotage your success; your more likely to be successful.

3. Measurements

Its important to know where you've been. Grab a little notebook and record the following: height, starting weight, chest measurements, abdominal measurements and hips. You want to always keep these numbers handy so when it gets tough or your having a bad day, you can use it to re-motivate yourself.

4. Goal Setting

Think back to a time when you were most happy with your weight and set that as your goal weight. If you cant think back to a time  then set your goal to where you would like to see yourself. This will be your long-term goal weight. The second step is to set a short-term goal. A healthy weight loss is approximately 1-2lbs per week. So you might want to set monthly goals or every two months depending on the amount of weight you want to lose. Remember to record your progress in your little notebook.

5. Get Moving!

If you want it you, you have to work for it. It's really important to workout while your trying to lose weight. Not only will you achieve your results much quicker but you will also keep your skin tight. Start simple maybe a 30 minute walk or sign up at a local gym. The point is to start with any form of exercise that you enjoy.
